Apple iphone Error Code Error 1

What does Error 1 mean?

iTunes/Finder cannot communicate with iPhone in DFU mode. USB communication failure.

Common causes

• Damaged Lightning or USB-C cable
• Dirty USB port on iPhone
• Faulty USB port on computer
• Outdated iTunes version
• Tristar/Hydra USB IC failure on iPhone board

Diagnostic & testing steps

1. 1. Try a different Apple MFi-certified cable
2. 2. Inspect iPhone USB port for lint/debris - clean with wooden toothpick
3. 3. Try different USB ports on computer
4. 4. Update iTunes/Finder to latest version
5. 5. Test with known-good computer
6. 6. If persists, may need Tristar IC replacement (microsoldering)
